Bowers & Wilkins has launched a McLaren F1 edition of its flagship PX8 S2 over-ear headphones. The new cans adopt a distinctive palette of Papaya orange and Anthracite Grey, with subtle Speedmark detailing on the headband and earcups.
The finish is paired with diamond-cut highlights and Nappa leather cushions, reinforcing the model’s position at the upper end of the premium Bluetooth noise cancelling grid.
A closer look at the hardware reveals the same upgraded 40mm Carbon Cone drivers found in the standard PX8 S2, mounted in redesigned chassis assemblies with refined voice coils, suspensions and magnets.

High-performance audio meets F1 design
Each driver (ahem) is angled to maintain a consistent listening distance across its surface, helping improve stereo imaging. Noise cancellation is handled by a proprietary system, designed to reduce external sound without masking musical detail, while wireless connectivity is supported by aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless and the company’s own DSP, capable of delivering 24-bit/96kHz audio.
A 30-hour battery life and a rapid 15-minute charge for seven additional hours ensure the headphones are always ready for an entire race weekend.
Control and customisation are provided through the Bowers & Wilkins Music app, which offers features including a five-band EQ, adjustable wear-sensor sensitivity, and configuration of the headphones’ Quick Action button.
The headphones also include a transparency mode, allowing users to introduce more ambient sound when needed.
Since 2015, Bowers & Wilkins and McLaren have collaborated on in-car audio systems for supercars such as the 540C and the new W1. Their partnership has since broadened into a multi-year agreement covering both McLaren Automotive and the McLaren Formula 1 Team.
The PX8 S2 McLaren Edition follows the Pi8 McLaren earbuds special launched earlier this year and continues the brands’ shared pursuit of performance-led design.
