Robert Pattinson has landed a suitably polished new role, joining Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre as its latest global ambassador.
The British actor and producer will front an upcoming campaign for the luxury maison, due to debut in mid September.
It is a partnership built around shared ideas of creativity, craftsmanship and reinvention – something Pattinson knows rather a lot about. After finding global fame as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga, he swerved the predictable blockbuster route to become one of modern cinema’s most intriguing leading men.
His career has since moved between daring independent films and enormous international productions, including Tenet, The Batman and Mickey 17. Most recently, he starred in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
Pattinson also appears to be a genuine watch obsessive rather than somebody who simply looks good wearing one – although, inconveniently for the rest of us, he does that too.
“For me, the most compelling objects are the ones that have real depth to them,” he said, “A great watch isn’t just about precision – it’s about character, craftsmanship and the story behind how it’s made.”
He added that Jaeger-LeCoultre’s combination of technical innovation and artistic expression was something he found “incredibly inspiring” and connected with in his own work.
Founded in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux in 1833, Jaeger-LeCoultre is known as the “Watchmaker of Watchmakers”, having created more than 1,400 different calibres and secured over 430 patents during its history.
Jérôme Lambert, CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre, described Pattinson as possessing a “rare combination of artistic depth, curiosity and authenticity”, adding that his independent spirit closely reflects the values of the maison.
The appointment places Pattinson in very good – and immaculately accessorised – company. His debut campaign lands in mid-September. Consider our watches set.
