Introducing this season’s most audacious luxury gift: a gold-plated watch box priced at €43,000. Lac Humidors, known for its high-end humidors and watch winders, describes the box as both a technical showpiece and a tongue-in-cheek answer to the age-old question of what to buy for the person who has everything.
Due to the complexity of the artisanal process, each gold box requires approximately three months to make.
While the bespoke piece from Lac Humidors has introduced what may be won’t be ready in time for Christmas morning, the French atelier has prepared a customised gift card for those determined to grant it space under the tree.

Lac Humidors patented plasma finish explained
Wrapped in alligator leather, plated in pure gold, the box is anything but discreet. The finish is achieved through a patented plasma energy transfer process, exclusive to the brand, that allows the gold to be applied in custom shiny, matte or colour-tinted variations. The technique, which can also be used on Nappa and other exotic leathers, has become something of a calling card for the atelier.
Inside, the box is lined with real cedar, a feature more commonly associated with top-tier humidors than watch storage. Standard configurations hold six or eight timepieces, though Lac Humidors will build to any specification. Each piece takes around three months to craft, a timeline that underscores the rarity of the item as much as its price.
Founder Christophe Cotte says the design reflects the brand’s commitment to refinement and innovation. “Our clients tell us they have never seen anything so beautiful,” he says. “The gold-plated box, with its patented plasma process, is the ultimate expression of our commitment to unique, customisable French luxury.”
Lac Humidors continues to expand its portfolio, including its Heritage humidors and a forthcoming watch winder combining leather, carbon, stainless steel and new proprietary technology. The brand recently exhibited at the Monaco Yacht Show, the Dubai World Cigar Show and in Chengdu.
The gold-plated watch box is available to order now, priced at €43,000, with bespoke configurations on request. A custom gift card is available for Christmas gifting.
