The Glendronach is celebrating its 200th anniversary with a limited-edition single malt inspired by the Highland home where the distillery’s story began.
The 14 Year Old Glendronach Boynsmill House Edition pays tribute to Boynsmill Estate, where James Allardice founded The Glendronach in 1826. The distillery sits in the Valley of the Brambles in the Scottish Highlands, and its history has long been associated with the influence of Spanish sherry casks.
The release coincides with the restoration of Boynsmill House itself. The historic residence has been transformed as part of the bicentennial celebrations, and now, by invitation, guests will have the rare opportunity to step inside the home where James Allardice secured Scotland’s second-ever whisky licence and laid the foundations for one of the world’s most richly sherried single malts.

The Glendronach 14 Year Old Boynsmill House Edition tasting notes
This 14-year-old single malt has been matured in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks – but adding another layer to the whisky’s flavour profile, Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie has also introduced a selected number of Claret casks, that bring additional red berry complexity.
Barrie says the red wine influence is intended to add vibrant red berry fruit to the distillery’s established sherry-cask character.
The result is bottled at 46.8% ABV and has a rich copper colour. On the nose, it reportedly offers a fruit and nut medley, with Highland toffee intertwined with bramble and stone fruit, alongside hazelnut and raisin.
The palate brings a plush, ripe malt character which develops into velvety, smooth chocolate caramel, giving the whisky a mellow and rounded flavour.
Loch Lomond Whiskies has unveiled a 31 Year Old single malt, the distillery’s oldest peated whisky to date.
