Audiovector has expanded its high-end loudspeaker line with the launch of the R 5 Arreté, a premium floorstander that features advanced audio technologies first developed for the company’s flagship R 10 Arreté.
Engineered and hand-built in Denmark, the R 5 Arreté arrives after what Audiovector describes as five years of development and more than 2,000 listening hours. Positioned within the upper tier of the company’s portfolio, the speaker blends the acoustic performance the brand is famed for, with a furniture-grade Scandinavian aesthetic.
While physically slimmer and more domestically manageable than the flagship R 10, the R 5 inherits a number of technologies related to driver integration, cabinet resonance control and bass management, from its statement sibling.
Utilising a 3.5-way architecture, two bass drivers operate independently, with one handling the full bass range while the second is dedicated exclusively to the lowest frequencies. The intention is to preserve clarity through the midrange by preventing lower-frequency energy from clouding vocal and instrumental detail.
Audiovector says this configuration also creates a line source-like effect across the bass and lower midrange, helping distribute sound energy more evenly throughout a room. In practice, that should translate into low frequencies that feel substantial and room-filling without becoming overbearing or slow.

R 5 Arreté features trickle down flagship technologies
Ole Klifoth, Audiovector founder and head of research and development, said the design focus for the R 5 Arreté was centred on speed and responsiveness.
“The driver responds at the very first moment of a signal, accelerating from rest with a precision that reveals the smallest detail rather than obscuring it,” he said.
Also notable is a three-position damping adjustment system that allows the speaker to be matched more effectively with different amplifier types, a feature we’ve seen on previous Audiovector models. The benefit is greater control over bass response and tonal balance, particularly in systems where amplifier characteristics, or room acoustics, could influence presentation.
Each cabinet is hand-crafted in Denmark, with a narrow front baffle intended to minimise edge diffraction and improve stereo imaging. The newly developed Arreté plinth incorporates precision-milled spikes and an integrated decoupling system designed to reduce unwanted cabinet resonance before it reaches the floor.
Real wood veneers and high-gloss finishes dominate, with available options including Black Piano, White Silk, African Mahogany Piano and Italian Walnut. Custom paint finishes are also available for buyers seeking a more tailored installation.
Distribution is via Renaissance Audio. Managing director John Carroll described the new model as “a Danish masterclass in sound, styling and design,” and we’re not inclined to disagree.
The Audiovector R 5 Arreté will be available from the beginning of July, priced at £17,950 per pair.
Music fans and whisky lovers are in for a treat, as the Renaissance Roadshow returns to home turf on May 7 with a special listening event at the Loud & Clear showroom in Edinburgh. It’s a rare opportunity to experience award-winning £129,500 Audiovector R 10 Arreté loudspeakers, a no-compromise floor standing enclosure that redefines what’s…
