British audio specialist Bowers & Wilkins, has launched arguably its most advanced wireless over-ear headphones to date, the Px7 S3.
This newcomer builds on the success of the Px7 S2e, but boasts a complete redesign, upgraded audio components and improved comfort. The Luxe Review attended the headphone’s London launch, and had an early hands on.
Most obviously, the Px7 S3 introduces a slimmer, more refined profile, compared to its predecessor, with a re-engineered fit. A new headband design and arm mechanism bring the headphones closer to the head for a more natural, secure fit, while memory foam ear cushions offer enhanced comfort for all-day use.
Even the carry case has been redesigned to be more compact and travel-friendly.

Beyond aesthetics, the Px7 S3 brings a suite of technical enhancements to the table. At its core are newly developed 40mm biocellulose drive units featuring redesigned voice coils, magnets and suspension systems. Only the cone material is retained from the previous generation.
For the first time in a Bowers & Wilkins over-ear model, a dedicated discrete headphone amplifier has also been introduced. This enables greater energy and dynamic impact while maintaining the brand’s hallmark clarity and balance, regardless what volume you listen at.
Connectivity also gets a boost. The Px7 S3 supports aptX Adaptive 24-bit/96kHz wireless streaming and the latest aptX Lossless technology, ensuring audiophiles can enjoy near-CD quality playback even over Bluetooth, provided their device is compatible.
These advanced codecs are complemented by Bowers & Wilkins’ proprietary DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and support for USB-C and 3.5mm audio connections, both of which are included in the packaging.
A significant step forward has also been made in noise cancellation. The Px7 S3 features an upgraded ANC system powered by a new eight-microphone array. This not only improves noise cancellation but also enhances call clarity, an important consideration for everyday users.
The headphones can be controlled via the updated Bowers & Wilkins Music app, which now includes a user-adjustable five-band EQ with preset memory. Support for spatial audio, a feature becoming increasingly popular among music lovers, is due to arrive via a software update later in the year.
The Px7 S3 is unlikely to reign supreme for long though. Bowers & Wilkins says it will update its flagship Px8 with a S2 iteration, later this year. Expect lashings of Napa leather and premium aluminium.
Bower & Wilkins Px7 S3 wireless headphones are available now via bowerswilkins.com and selected retailers. The model is priced at £399 (€429). Look out for our in-depth review shortly.
