In a move designed to electrify the automotive industry, British sports car manufacturer Longbow has unveiled two high performance models, which it says usher in a new EV category, Featherweight Electric Vehicles.
The Longbow Speedster, and Longbow Roadster, challenge conventional electric vehicle norms, by prioritising lightweight construction and a driver-focused experience. Both weigh under 995 kg. With deliveries set for 2026, the company hopes to carve out a niche for enthusiasts seeking agility, responsiveness, and pure driving pleasure.
The Speedster is an optimistic open-top, and comes sans windscreen and roof, while the Roadster makes full body concessions to British weather. Both are drop dead gorgeous.
Founded in 2023 by industry veterans Daniel Davey, Jenny Keisu, and Mark Tapscott, Longbow is deeply rooted in the principles that made British sports cars legendary, namely simplicity, beauty, and a relentless pursuit of lightweight engineering. The brand’s motto is ‘Celeritas Levitas’ – Latin for ‘the speed of lightness.’

The new models clearly draw inspiration from iconic predecessors like the Lotus Elise and Jaguar E-Type.
At the heart of the Speedster and Roadster lies a bespoke aluminum chassis, designed for optimal stiffness while maintaining feather-light weight. The minimalist, handcrafted cockpit recalls a golden era of motoring, where the driver was at the center of the experience, unburdened by excessive digital distractions.
The Speedster, with an astonishing weight of just 895 kg, achieves 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and boasts a WLTP range of 275 miles. Prices start at £84,995, with only 150 hand-built units available, including exclusive Luminary 1st Edition and Autograph Edition variants.
The Roadster, slightly heavier at 995kg, reaches 62mph in 3.6 seconds and is priced at £64,995. With reservations now open, enthusiasts can also secure one of the limited 50 Luminary 1st Edition or 100 Autograph Edition Roadsters.
Craftsmanship and innovation, built in Britain
Every Longbow vehicle will be hand-built in the UK. With access to some of the world’s leading Formula 1 and Formula E technologies, Longbow’s engineering team includes talent from premium marques such as Lotus, Aston Martin, Ariel, and Tesla.
Co-founder and CEO Daniel Davey says “Many modern sportscars tip the scales at 1,500kg and BEVs can reach almost double that. There is a need for a more driver-oriented, featherweight, electric sports car, one that is attainable and accessible, for those who love driving and the places it takes them. That is why we have created Longbow.”
With first deliveries expected in 2026 and reservations already open, Longbow is determined to redefine the landscape of electric performance cars.
For enthusiasts craving a genuine, lightweight electric sports car that delivers exhilaration and elegance in equal measure, the future has arrived, and it looks sleek, agile, and unmistakably British.
