Loch Maberry: Stories of Bladnoch, Chapter Three is the newest limited‑edition single malt from Scotland’s oldest privately owned distillery, and it arrives with a narrative rooted in connection and serendipity.
The series celebrates individuals with a deep affinity for Bladnoch, and this chapter centres on Roddie and Elaine Burgess, a couple whose relationship began after separate losses, a chance meeting, and a shared fondness for the distillery.
Invited to Bladnoch to choose the cask that would tell their tale, the couple tasted samples with master distiller Dr Nick Savage before settling on an eight‑year‑old spirit matured in an ex‑Cognac hogshead. Distilled in November 2017 and bottled in July 2026, the whisky was chosen for its warmth, a quality they felt mirrored their own journey.

Bottled at a cask strength 58.9% ABV, natural in colour and non‑chill filtered, this expression opens with apricot jam and muscovado sugar on the nose. The palate reportedly brings orange marmalade, apricots and gentle spice, leading to a long finish with thick, sugary apricot sweetness.
Both Roddie and Elaine’s tasting notes and Nick’s appear on the bottle, accompanied by letters exchanged during the selection process.
This new release continues Bladnoch’s exploration of personal stories tied to the distillery’s heritage. Chapter One honoured a lifelong admirer; Chapter Two traced a family’s reconnection with its historic roots. Chapter Three is a more intimate affair.
