LG has unveiled a one-piece washing machine and dryer appliance with AI technology, dubbed the WashTower. It will make its debut at the upcoming IFA 2020 virtual technology showcase, before shipping worldwide later in the year.
Unlike traditional stacked washers and dryers, the WashTower is designed as a premium one body solution, in which the dryer and washer communicate with each other. At the beginning of the wash cycle, the WashTower indicates how long it will take to complete both washing and drying. The washer shares information with the dryer, which automatically sets the optimal plan and preheats the drum, creating shorter overall laundry times.
There’s also a single, intuitive Centre Control is located between the washer and dryer, rather than rather than two separate button clusters.

A single control panel and lower dryer height make the WashTower easier to use
The LG WashTower is also a tad lower than the average combined height of stackable units, making loading and unloading the top-mounted dryer easier. Maximum load capacity is 17kg and 16kg respectively.
Top-end features include TurboWash 360° and LG’s Artificial Intelligence Direct Drive. AI reduces cycle times and energy usage without sacrificing effectiveness, while the dryer utilises LG’s steam technology for maximum hygiene.
