JBL has announced updates to its range-topping JBL Tour One M3 headphones and JBL Tour Pro3 earbuds, which include a new classic green colourway and significant improvements in audio performance and usability.
The firmware update is a refresh of its signature JBL sound curve preset, said to produce clearer, more accurate audio. The brand is also issuing a user-interface update for its novel Smart Charging Case and JBL Smart TX.
Based on the Harman Curve, an idealised balance of bass, mid-range and treble, as determined by industry specialists and golden-eared types, the new JBL sound curve debuts in the Tour One M3 green edition and is made available via over the air updates for the current Tour One M3 models.
Listeners are promised more controlled, natural low frequencies alongside subtle enhancements to highs. The result is said to be a clearer, more balanced soundstage.
“We are always striving to push the boundaries of sound performance and saw this as the perfect moment to refine the JBL sound curve for our premium headphones,” said Carsten Olesen, President of Consumer Audio at Harman. “The new curve makes its debut on our flagship JBL Tour One M3, designed to deliver the clearest, most natural listening experience we’ve ever created.”

As for the colourway, well it’s clearly inspired by heritage British motorsport. The deep green finish, with copper accents, looks likely to win over a whole new legion of fans to these ultra-comfortable cans.
The new JBL Tour One M3 green colourway goes on sale mid-May, priced £249.
