Bienne-based watch company Perrelet has unveiled its latest artistic collaboration, bringing the work of Emirati calligrapher Diaa Allam to the dial of a new limited-edition Turbine model. The watch, making its debut at Dubai Watch Week, is limited to just 50 pieces worldwide and blends contemporary Arabic calligraphy with one of the brand’s most recognisable designs.
Perrelet has a long-standing history of working with artists, having previously joined forces with Chris Alexander and seconde/seconde/ (Romain André).
For this latest project the Swiss manufacturer turned to Allam, an internationally known figure whose large-scale live calligraphy performances and vibrant, layered murals have become prominent features across the UAE. His work often reinterprets traditional Arabic scripts through modern, three-dimensional compositions, a style that has translated directly onto the new watch.
The Perrelet x Diaa Allam Turbine incorporates one of Allam’s exclusive paintings on the lower dial. The artwork draws on the woven textures of palm-leaf wickerwork, a craft long associated with the UAE, expressed through overlapping, multicoloured segments.
Arabic numerals appear around the hour track, while Allam’s calligraphic forms are revealed more dramatically as the turbine spins, creating shifting layers of colour and depth.

Artist creates exclusive dial inspired by Arabic calligraphy
The Perrelet x Diaa Allam Limited Edition watch is housed in a 41mm case made from Grade 2 titanium with a black DLC coating, chosen for its light weight and durability. Its design follows the familiar Turbine aesthetic, including a polished bezel, vertical grooves along the case middle, and the brand’s distinctive triple lugs. A sapphire crystal covers both the dial and the case back, where inscriptions appear in Arabic and English: one a poetic line about the passage of time, the other marking the watch as one of just 50 produced.
As with all Turbine models, the dial is dominated by the rotating 12-blade aluminium turbine, fitted with tungsten counterweights to ensure smooth and consistent movement. Although decorative rather than functional, the turbine has become Perrelet’s signature kinetic feature since its introduction in 2009, revealing the artwork beneath as it spins with the wearer’s movements.
Inside the case is Perrelet’s in-house P-331-MH automatic movement, equipped with a 42-hour power reserve. Manufactured within the group’s Soprod movement division, it has earned both COSC chronometer certification and the Chronofiable reliability certification, attesting to its accuracy and long-term durability.
The movement can be viewed through the transparent case back, showing finishing details such as circular graining, colimaçon decoration and an open-worked oscillating weight.
The watch is fitted with a black rubber strap and a matching DLC-coated buckle. It is delivered in a customised presentation box and accompanied by both a limited-edition certificate and its COSC chronometry documentation.
