Determined to elevate the spirits of whisky enthusiasts and aficionados of the finer things in life, Highland Park has unveiled the London Edition, the latest in its limited-edition Single Cask Series.
Distilled in 2002 and bottled in 2021, this 18-year-old wonder has matured in a refill sherry-seasoned European oak cask, handpicked by Highland Park Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion.
Naturally light, and golden of hue, buyers can expect the brand’s signature earthy, smoky tones, accompanied by a rounded nose of vanilla sponge, oak, and nutmeg; the palate promises luscious notes of pears and aniseed, with gentle peaty and lingering sweet spice.

With casks contributing up to 60 per cent of the whisky’s flavour, the distillery famously spares no effort in sourcing the finest sherry-seasoned casks from Spanish bodegas. Sherry’s lower alcohol content allows the cask to impart more of its unique characteristics to the whisky during maturation.
Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion chose cask #4627 for this special release. He describes the chosen cask as a marriage of “diverse yet harmonious flavours.”
When asked about his selection process, Motion explains, “When it comes to whisky that’s matured for 18 years and more, I have fewer casks to choose from, so those in our Single Cask Series are, quite simply, the most exceptional Highland Park casks available.”
Highland Park whiskies are filled at approximately 63.5 per cent, but during maturation, they naturally lose some alcohol and water to evaporation, the Angels’ Share. However, this reduction in volume intensifies the flavours rather than diluting them.
To satisfy whisky enthusiasts, the London Edition is bottled at cask strength, boasting an ABV of 58.5%.
The Highland Park London Edition will be available in the UK with a recommended price tag of £390.

The debut bottling arrives as the Crǣft Series, a collection of three single cask whiskies that offer an early glimpse…

Mystery Malt has returned for its sixth instalment, and according to its creators at Thompson Brothers, it is the biggest release yet. The concept remains delightfully simple: every whisky bottle looks identical, costs the same £65, and arrives concealed beneath a tamper-proof capsule. Buyers know the full list of whiskies that could be inside, but…
