Bacardi Rum has launched a limited edition domino set, certain to engender a sense of Caribbean fun over the dark winter months. Great for gifting, the bundle comprises a set of unique tiles and a bottle of Bacardi Reserva Ocho (70cl), aged eight years for a deep and complex flavour.
Highly competitive and fast-paced, dominoes is something of an obsession played across the Caribbean, and a staple pastime in local bars.
Appropriately, the domino tiles in the set have been crafted from reclaimed oak barrels that were previously used to age Bacardi rum. As well as giving the upcycled rum barrels a second life, this also guarantees each individual piece is a smoky one-of-a-kind. All 28 tiles have been engraved with a suitably tropical design.
Marie Peyto, Bacardi’s UK Brand Director, hopes the limited edition set will similarly enliven get togethers across the UK. “With domino tiles crafted out of barrels from our distillery in Puerto Rico, to the uniquely engraved design, we hope our sets not only create moments of good-spirited competitive fun over an Ocho Old Fashioned, but also become a keepsake to be treasured for years to come.”

The ageing process used also helps elevate cocktail classics, such as an Old Cuban (aged rum a necessity) or a Bacardi Ocho Old Fashioned. It also makes for a superior sipping rum, served neat or on the rocks.
To celebrate the shared Caribbean heritage of both game and beverage, each presentation box comes engraved with a design by Caribbean artist PopCaribe.
“Dominoes is a game I know and love, so working on this project with Bacardi has not only allowed me to really embrace my Caribbean heritage and roots but also bring something personal to the artwork,” says PopCaribe.
“My design draws inspiration from my own experiences playing the game at family occasions and also nods to the rich and energetic spirit of Caribbean culture, from the sense of community to the stunning scenery.”
Ideal for rum-lovers and collectors, we reckon the elaborate case is likely to remain on the shelf long after the last sip.
The Bacardi Reserva Ocho Domino Set is available to purchase now on Minima UK priced £75.
