Danish design house Fritz Hansen and Japanese audio specialist Technics have joined forces on a limited-edition collaboration that ostensibly explores the relationship between light and sound.
Previewed at the annual 3daysofdesign 2026 festival in Copenhagen, the partnership combines a special edition of Fritz Hansen’s KAISER idell lamp with a matching Technics turntable, both finished in a deep burgundy colourway created exclusively for the project.
Founded in 1872, Fritz Hansen has long occupied a central place in Scandinavian design, working with figures such as Arne Jacobsen and Poul Kjærholm to create furniture and lighting that have endured for generations.
Technics has spent more than six decades building its reputation in high-fidelity audio. Established in 1965, the brand is perhaps best known for pioneering direct-drive turntable technology, a development that helped shape both home listening and professional DJ culture.

Two design icons, one vision
The Fritz Hansen x Technics collaboration centres on two limited-edition products. The first is the KAISER idell Luxus 6631-T, based on the celebrated lamp designed by Bauhaus designer Christian Dell in 1936.
The second is the Technics SL-40CBT turntable, which employs the company’s direct-drive motor technology to deliver stable rotation and accurate playback.
The partnership was unveiled as part of the Fritz Hansen Sound Club installation at 3daysofdesign, where the lamp and turntable were displayed on original Bauhaus-inspired tables drawn from the company archive.
Both limited editions will launch globally in October 2026. Fritz Hansen will produce 200 examples of the KAISER idell Luxus 6631-T for Europe and Asia, while Technics will offer up to 300 units of the SL-40CBT.
Look for them in select Fritz Hansen and Technics outlets. Pricing is TBC.
