Glenfiddich has unveiled a 48 year old single malt, finished in a hand-crafted European oak sherry cask, at Monterey Car Week in California. Presented in collaboration with Aston Martin, there are only 50 bottles available globally. The expression marks Glenfiddich’s debut as Aston Martin’s official whisky partner, expanding on its existing ties with the marque’s Formula One team.
As part of the Monterey launch, Glenfiddich hosted a curated pop-up tasting experience at The House of Aston Martin. The whisky was showcased alongside Aston Martin’s Valhalla, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid supercar.

Glenfiddich partners Aston Martin with 48 year old whisky
The rsre 48 YO whisky is designed to reflect a defining era for both brands. The mid-1970s saw Glenfiddich build a new still house and adopt its now-iconic stag head motif, even as Aston Martin was reimagining the future of automotive design and performance, with concepts that would influence the company for decades.
Brian Kinsman, Malt Master at Glenfiddich, says “This exceptional cask was not selected for its vintage year alone, but for the era it represents; the transformative mid-1970s, a defining period that marked the beginning of Glenfiddich’s modern era and helped shape the whisky’s character for generations to come.”
Bottled at 48.8% ABV, the whisky sets out to capture that sense of transformation, matured first in a refill sherry cask before a finishing period in a hand-coopered 100 litre European oak sherry cask.
On the nose, tasting notes report red berry sweetness, butter pastry and gentle spice, with a touch of sherbet; the palate is layered with oak tannin, stewed fruits and toasted wood, leading to a lingering finish of sweet oak spice.
This rare release will be made available exclusively through William Grant & Sons’ The Distillers Library whisky boutique and The Glenfiddich Distillery. The reserve price is £20,000.
