So what’s it really like to get Botox from the doctor who “knows your face better than you do”? We booked in to find out…

Dr. Ed Robinson has earned a loyal fanbase at his plush new Manchester clinic and on London’s iconic Harley Street – and for good reason

What does the treatment promise?

Botox has long been the go-to injectable for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles – but in the hands of a trusted expert like Dr. Ed, it’s about even more than that. His tailored approach looks at facial anatomy, dynamic expression, and muscle function to help soften lines in a way that looks completely natural.

“Treatment success should be undetectable, leaving you refreshed and rejuvenated, not looking like someone else,” Dr. Ed explains to The Luxe Review, “Aesthetics has two arms – feature enhancement and anti-ageing. Botox helps correct the way the face changes with age, and when it’s used correctly, it absolutely looks natural.”

Whether you’re targeting forehead lines, crow’s feet, or even jaw tension from grinding, Dr Ed’s Botox treatments are built around harmony and subtle enhancement, and not overdone tweaks.

How does it work?

Every treatment starts with a thorough consultation, and according to Dr. Ed, who also has expertise in mental health, this is essential. “The consultation is an essential part of the process where you can get to know your injector and feel listened to,” Dr. Ed says, “It’s so important to get your ideas, concerns and expectations surrounding treatments established before proceeding.”

“If you’re a candidate for treatment, then a consultation should involve objectively assessing your anatomy, both at rest and in movement. It’s very important to assess how a patient expresses themselves so that natural movements can be preserved, which are so important for normal body language and the way we communicate.”

He explains the procedure step-by-step, mitigates any potential complications, and gives meticulous aftercare advice. You can even expect a surprising bonus, he tells us: “Injectables, and indeed just walking into an aesthetics clinic, can be very intimidating for many, and nerves are normal. I actually have a hidden goal to make each patient laugh during their treatment and it’s rare that I don’t manage it!”

What are the results really like?

It takes a few days to see the full effects, with peak results around two weeks, but even early on, the face begins to look smoother and more refreshed.

As Dr. Ed explains, the dosage and placement of Botox must be tailored: “It is actually quite rare for patients to want to be ‘frozen’. The dose, and occasionally the brand, needs to be tailored to the individual.”

“Not all areas are suitable treatment options for everyone. For example, having treatment in your forehead can make you look more tired, or ‘drop’ your eyebrows, particularly if over-treated or you are prone to hooding of the eyebrows.” So, with Dr Ed’s guidance, we opt for forehead Botox which is sparing enough to keep movement around the area, and avoid the dreaded eyebrow drop which too much of the injectable can bring – and the results are perfect. Looking refreshed but still full of natural expression, it’s easy to see why Dr. Ed has become the go-to for Cheshire’s elite.

Why is Dr. Ed Robinson the expert to trust?

He’s not just an aesthetician – Dr. Ed is an NHS anaesthetist with years of clinical experience. He explains, “I am an NHS anaesthetist by background, and my real passion is obstetrics  – think epidurals for labour and facilitating Caesarian sections. I regularly perform procedures with potentially serious adverse consequences if done incorrectly.”

“As a result, I practice at a meticulous level in terms of precision and patient safety. I also deploy a number of techniques to minimise discomfort during procedures which helps my aesthetics practice including nerve blocks. I am skilled in ultrasound as well which assists me in complications management.”

Perhaps rather unusually compared to some clinics, Dr Ed also makes a point of never upselling: “I am also a staunch believer in minimising the number of treatments to get the best results and actively discourage patients from pursuing unnecessary treatments.” Here, you’ll get the results you’re looking for with as few treatments as possible – music to our ears.

What should you know before booking?

Come prepared to be honest about your goals, and open to expert advice. Dr Ed insists on consultations for every new patient, where expectations are set and anatomy is analysed.

“You should be explained how the process works – the treatment involves a few short pinches – and the potential complications, including how these are mitigated. You will then be advised meticulously about aftercare. You should feel supported in the before, during and post-treatment stage.”

What makes it ideal for luxury lovers?

Dr Ed’s Harley Street and Manchester clinics are chic, discreet, and deeply rooted in clinical precision. His calm, supportive manner – and the fact he treats every patient like a VIP – make it feel less like a cosmetic procedure and more like a confidence-boosting act of self-care, and all while being in the company of an actual friend.

Who is it best for?

First-timers nervous about Botox, experienced injectables fans looking for more natural results and anyone struggling with teeth grinding, tension headaches, or jaw clenching. Or, simply anyone who wants a subtle, safe refresh.

As Dr Ed puts it: “People have lots of pre-conceived negative ideas about injectables, but you only see the bad work, not the good.”

Would we get it again?

In a heartbeat. Dr. Ed’s unique combo of medical insight, emotional intelligence and subtle yet clear results makes him the expert you’ll wish you’d booked years ago. It’s clear to see why Cheshire’s finest flock to the doctor – and with his new clinic near Manchester airport and a prestigious London base to add to the mix, we’ll be joining his dedicated luxe fanbase. If you want a natural glow-up with real medical credibility, Dr. Ed Robinson is the Harley Street expert you’ll wish you’d found sooner.
