Named Havana Single Cask Barrel 111968, this limited-edition is drawn from a single American white oak barrel chosen by The Whisky Exchange’s Buying Director, Dawn Davies MW.

Havana Club Single Cask Barrel 111968 tasting notes
Non chill filtered, with no additions, the expression offers a striking mahogany hue in the glass, with thick, lazy legs that signal its richness. On the nose, it opens warmly with molasses, honey, and plump raisins, followed by hints of banana and citrus. The aromatics are sweet and inviting, but the palate reveals more complexity, drier than expected, with notes of chocolate, aged leather, and a touch of tobacco. There’s a subtle tannic structure underpinning the experience, giving the rum a grounded, contemplative quality.
The finish is brisk and clean, drying quickly like sun-warmed linen, leaving behind echoes of fruit and spice. This is a rum to enjoy slowly, offering something new with each return to the glass.
This is the second release in a single cask series from The Whisky Exchange and Havana Club, and it’s a fitting tribute to Cuba’s deep-rooted rum-making tradition.
Priced at £150, Havana Single Cask Barrel 111968 will be available exclusively through The Whisky Exchange, with an initial release at Rum Show 2025 (July 18–19, Glaziers Hall, London).

Mystery Malt has returned for its sixth instalment, and according to its creators at Thompson Brothers, it is the biggest release yet. The concept remains delightfully simple: every whisky bottle looks identical, costs the same £65, and arrives concealed beneath a tamper-proof capsule.
