Smeg soda maker in a designer kitchen

If your kitchen’s been missing a little sparkle of late, Smeg’s latest launch might just be the refreshment you’ve been waiting for. The Italian brand, known for its retro-chic home appliances, has launched its first-ever soda maker, adding a welcome dash of effervescence to its kitchen line-up.

Whether you’re elevating your hydration game or mixing up a spritz on the patio, this Smeg carbonator delivers fresh sparkling water with zero fuss, and maximum design appeal. Take that Sodastream!

The Smeg Soda Maker promises fresh sparkling water with zero fuss, and maximum design appeal…

Why add a soda maker to your kitchen?

Beyond the convenience of at-home fizz, we’re told that soda makers are an increasingly popular way to cut back on single-use plastics and sugary drinks. With the ability to produce up to 60 litres of sparkling H2O from a single CO₂ canister, the Smeg soda maker sounds like a good bet for health-conscious households, and, with no need for batteries or electricity, it’s totally portable, making it a fun way to enliven garden parties and get togethers.

In typical Smeg fashion, the Soda Maker doesn’t just strive to raise the bubble bar, it looks stylish doing it. Available in four matte finishes – Storm Blue, Emerald Green, Matte Black, and Matte White – it’ll work if your kitchen space is minimal, monochrome or bursting with personality.

At the heart of the Soda Maker is a sleek carbonation system that uses a simple twist control to adjust your fizz level. Ostensibly designed for still water only, this soda maker encourages you to add syrups and flavourings after carbonation, thereby avoiding sticky spills. A magnetic drip tray minimises mess.

We’d almost certainly try it with wine though. Just because.

The Smeg Soda Maker is available now, priced £149.95, from the Smeg shop online
