A historic Scottish destination for modern luxury
Nestled near the whisky bonds at Claxton’s, Dabton House was designed in 1820 by architect William Atkinson; the estate was commissioned by Walter Montagu Douglas Scott, the 5th Duke of Buccleuch, and later became a family home for the 10th Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch.
In its latest chapter, renovations led by Walter and Elizabeth, the Earl and Countess of Dalkeith, have transformed the house into a luxury retreat while preserving its charm as a family home. With panoramic views, elegant interiors, and a history steeped in Scottish heritage, Dabton House offers the perfect setting for celebratory drams, sporting events, and tranquil retreats.
Crafted in collaboration with Claxton’s, the 16-year-old single malt was meticulously developed to appeal to both whisky aficionados and newcomers alike. Expect sweet, warm flavours with hints of oak and fruit, courtesy of maturation in Tawny Port casks. Bottles are hand-numbered, reflecting their exclusivity.
Priced at £160 per bottle, Dabton Whisky is available directly from Dabton House and can also be enjoyed by the glass in the estate’s Drawing Room.
The Whisky Exchange has dropped three new exclusive bottlings to mark the start of 2026, spanning Scotch whisky, American bourbon and Jamaican rum. The limited collection comprises an experimental single-cask Torabhaig from the Isle of Skye, a punchy single-barrel bourbon from Bardstown Bourbon Company, and a sherry-cask-aged Hampden Estate rum that leans fully into the…
