The Dorchester in London has become the only venue in the world where you can sample all three of Louis XIII’ Rare Cask Collection by the glass. This unique cognac tasting experience can be had at the Dorchester’s Vesper Bar, a space created by interiors specialist, Martin Brudnizki, in the spirit of the roaring thirties.

Here you’ll discover the Louis XIII Rare Cask 43.8, a rare expression bottled as a special edition, sitting alongside a Rare Cask 42.6, noted for its richness and intensity (imagine plum and date, mingling with flavours of gingerbread and prune, punctuated by a final touch of tobacco leaf).

notes of plum and date, mingling with flavours of gingerbread and prune…

The two are joined by a Louis XIII Rare Cask 42.1, sourced from a single tierçon in the Domaine du Grollet cellar, (official notes speak of rose and peony on the nose, and passionfruit and mango on the palate).

All three are available in £50ml for £12,000.

For true indulgence, these Rare Cask expressions can also be accompanied by bespoke canapé pairings from the Dorchester kitchens, spearheaded by Culinary Director Martyn Nail.

Langoustine with Oscietra caviar is served in a crisp tartlet; langoustine bedded on jasmine-infused creme fraiche and topped with samphire and subtly salty Oscietra caviar.

Cornish crab and green apple, served in a glass, white and brown crab meat combined, to hide cubes of fresh green apple and avocado and topped with apple slices, dill, sorrel leaves and lemon zest.

Finally, there’s seared venison on croissant croute. Sices of venison are served on a buttery toasted croissant base dripped with liquorice infused veal jus and topped with dressing of charred pear and thinly sliced raw beetroot.
