Diplomático debuts ultra-rare triple-cask Chancellor rum with just 900 bottles worldwide

Diplomático rum in hand

Diplomático Rum, the Venezuelan super-premium spirits house, has announced the UK launch of Chancellor. Positioned as a flagship expression for connoisseurs and long-term collectors of rare spirits, fewer than 1,000 individually numbered bottles will be released worldwide.

Diplomático Rum, founded in 1959, has built its reputation on blending expertise, heavy pot-still distillates and long-term maturation, earning global recognition across both its Tradition and Prestige ranges.

What distinguishes Chancellor is its liquid composition and maturation. The rum draws heavily on Diplomático’s most complex pot-still stocks and undergoes a carefully structured Triple-Cask Maturation process across three different wood types: French Virgin Oak, American Virgin Oak and Seasoned American Oak.

This layered ageing is designed to build structure, depth and refinement, producing a profile described by the brand as almost cognac-like in its balance and elegance.

Where the project sits within the brand’s portfolio is equally deliberate. Chancellor becomes the new pinnacle of the Diplomático Prestige Range, joining established high-end releases such as Ambassador and Single Vintage, and reinforcing the house’s strategy of separating collectible, ultra-limited expressions from its wider offerings.

Diplomático Chancellor rum tasting notes

Bottled at 47% ABV and designed to be enjoyed neat, Chancellor opens on the nose with heavy wood, dark caramel and cured tobacco, lifted by delicate spice. On the palate, tasting notes report an elegant, cognac-like fruit character, where ripe peach and bright citrus are layered over soft vanilla warmth. The finish is long and structured, reflecting its extended ageing.

The rum is presented in a bespoke prestige decanter, underlining its status as a collector’s release.

“Chancellor is an exceptional liquid that captures the very heart of our passion for craftsmanship,” says Elena Petrov, Global Brand Director at Diplomático. “We are inviting the world’s most discerning collectors to experience our most complex and refined expression yet. It is a rare, unhurried masterpiece designed for those who understand that true luxury is found in the depth of the story behind the spirit.”

Diplomático Chancellor is available exclusively through The Whisky Exchange, priced at £1,900. Only 900 individually numbered bottles will be available worldwide.
