Danish audio specialist DALI has launched the IO-8, advanced wireless headphones with audiophile DNA. The stylish new over-ears hail from the same design team responsible for the Hi-Fi brand’s flagship KORE loudspeaker and feature large, custom 50mm drivers for exceptional audio performance.
They also come with advanced Active Noise Cancellation, have aptX, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive and support 24Bit/96kHz audio.
Engineered to the same sound principles as full-size DALI loudspeakers, the IO-8 can be used either wireless or wired. Helpful when battery life is low, these cans will operate just like any conventional, passive analogue headphone when wired.
USB-C and 3.5mm cables are supplied.
Battery life with Active Noise Cancelling engaged is a generous 30 hours. With ANC off, you’ll gain another five.

The Luxe Review enjoyed an early listen to the new headphones, at DALI HQ in Denmark, and was beguiled by their musicality.
Key to their performance are novel Paper Fibre Driver Diaphragms, which are made from proprietary paper and wood fibre materials. The paper fibre material comprises randomly aligned fibres of variable length, said to create a light yet stiff diaphragm with optimal damping.
There’s no app required to operate the headphones either. All the control required is via intuitive multifunction buttons on the headphones.
The headphones have a Dual Sound mode; there are settings for Hi-Fi, which offers the most musical presentation, and Bass, for those that prefer a little more bounce to their beats.
As we’ve come to expect from DALI, build quality is excellent. The IO-8 ear pads are finished in high quality real leather (the brand has moved away from using vegan leather, which it found was less resilient when it came to everyday use). The headphones feature an eye-catching radial brushed and anodised finish to the ear cup external surfaces.
The DALI IO-8 headphones are available now, priced at £599 (€599).
