Luxury cognac brand Hennessy has unveiled its latest collaboration with artist Jean-Michel Othoniel. Known for his sculptures and hand-blown glass creations, Othoniel has created two extraordinary new decanters for Hennessy’s X.O collection: the Hennessy X.O Masterpiece, and the Hennessy X.O Limited Edition.
This follows previous artful collaborations with Tom Dixon, architect Frank Gehry, and fashion visionary Kim Jones.
Othoniel’s relationship with Hennessy stretches back over 20 years. “This project has enriched my creative universe, and I’m thrilled to introduce contemporary art to new audiences through this unique collaboration,” says Othoniel.
“We’ve created two distinct limited-edition carafes, each a testament to the power of reimagining familiar objects with new meaning and beauty. Immersing myself in the artistry of barrel-making and cognac production was a profound experience, reinforcing my admiration for Hennessy’s legacy of craftsmanship and dedication,” says Othoniel.

The Hennessy X.O Masterpiece is a Baccarat crystal decanter that encapsulates Othoniel’s signature aesthetic. Adorned with intricate multi-facets, the decanter plays with light and reflection, every angle reflecting Othoniel’s artistic exploration of light. The base of the decanter is encased in hand-carved oak wood, evoking Hennessy’s iconic cognac barrels. Hand-finished details ensure that each piece is unique.
Alongside the Masterpiece, the collaboration also introduces the Hennessy X.O Limited Edition decanter. This design presents the bottle as a radiant ruby red jewel encased in a golden metal structure. In a nod to Hennessy’s commitment to sustainability, the bottle also features a unique opening mechanism that allows for easy replacement or refilling.
This limited-edition decanter is designed to be as much a showpiece as it is a practical object, with the vibrant ruby red colour serving as a striking centrepiece for any collection.
“Working with esteemed artists, designers, and architects worldwide is an integral part of the Maison’s identity and history,” says Laurent Boillot, CEO of Hennessy. “Our collaboration with Jean-Michel Othoniel elevates our X.O collection, infusing it with his masterful use of light, colour, and crystal.”
Collectors and cognac enthusiasts will find the Hennessy X.O Masterpiece and Hennessy X.O Limited Edition at the Hennessy Boutique at Harrods, priced at €35,000, and €257 respectively.
