London’s only brandy house, Burnt Faith, is celebrating the sell-out success of its Bourbon Cask Brandy. This limited-edition is the first in a Cask Series collection, which the brand says turns tradition on its head.
The release, which followed its first expression, Burnt Faith Batch One, was made using four different grape varieties – Trebbiano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Muscat Blanc – then matured for three years in bourbon barrels from Kentucky’s Heaven Hill distillery, one of the biggest producers of bourbon in the world – last year it laid down 440,000 barrels.

The Blighty brandy barn celebrated its success with a lively Bourbon brandy BBQ, in collaboration with BBQ chef, Neil Rankin, and Hackney’s sustainable smokehouse, From The Ashes.
The cocktail menu for the evening included a Call Me Old Fashioned, with Bourbon Cask Brandy centre stage, and At the Afters, mixing the Bourbon Cask Brandy with House Mint & Rose syrup, and chocolate bitters.
Those who have secured a bottle of this limited release are in for a treat. On the nose it offers traditional sweet vanilla and toffee cues, with coconut, raisins, and butterscotch on the palette. It departs with sichuan spice atop baked fruits.
With clear crossover appeal to whisky and bourbon lovers, the liquid was sure to have broad appeal.
“It’s part of our ethos that we wanted to explore different cask types,” says Master Distiller Oliver Kitson. “It seems natural that bourbon would be central to our blend. As part of our Batch One liquid, bourbon makes up a significant proportion of the casks that we use for that flavour profile. It’s got that wonderful butterscotch, vanilla sweetness with peppercorn spice.”
It was always the most popular cask type with visitors, says Kitson. A limited edition was inevitable. The release is not chill filtered, and doesn’t have any added sugars.
The Burnt Faith Bourbon Cask Brandy is bottled at 40% ABV, and priced at £60. A limited edition, only 800 bottles have been made available.
