Sky conjures up first look at A Discovery of Witches season 3, preps Sky Studios Elstree

Fans of A Discovery of Witches have been granted their first look at the upcoming third season of the fantasy hit, as Sky drops the first trailer (contains previous season spoilers, so be warned).

The Sky Original drama is coming to Sky Max and NOW in January 2022.

In the final series of A Discovery of Witches, Matthew (Matthew Goode) and Diana (Teresa Palmer) return from their trip to 1590 to find tragedy at Sept-Tours. They must find the missing pages from the Book of Life and the Book itself before it’s too late. Their enemies are gearing up against them, and a monster from Matthew’s past who has been lying in wait will return for revenge…

The ensemble cast includes Matthew Goode, Teresa Palmer, Owen Teale, Malin Buska, Alex Kingston, Aiysha Hart, Edward Bluemel, Lindsay Duncan, Peter McDonald, Trevor Eve, Gregg Chillin, Adelle Leonce, Tanya Moodie, Daniel Ezra, Toby Regbo, Steven Cree, Jacob Ifan, Ivanno Jeremiah, Greg McHugh, Olivier Huband, Paul Rhys and Parker Sawyers. 

This third and final season is based on the ‘The Book of Life’ novel from Deborah Harkness’s bestselling All Souls trilogy.

A Sky Original series, A Discovery of Witches is made by Bad Wolf, and directed by Jamie Donoughue and Debs Paterson and written by Lisa Holdsworth, Helen Raynor, Michelle Gayle, Christopher Cornwell and Matt Evans.

Series 1 and 2 are available on catch up via On Demand and on NOW.

In related news, Sky Studios Elstree, the broadcaster’s new state-of-the-art film and TV studio, has kicked off a recruitment drive prior to opening early next year.

Representing a big investment in the UK creative economy, the new 27.5 acre site is on-track to open early 2022. The new studios will become home to a host of Sky Originals, created by Sky Studios, as well as major film productions from Universal Pictures, Focus Features and Working Title, and television series from Universal Studio Group.  

Sky Studios Elstree will house 13 sound stages, ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 sq ft and is expected to facilitate £3bn worth of new production investment during its first five years, and create 2,000 jobs.
