Following an extensive $10 million two-year renovation, the iconic Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina d’Ampezzo, at the heart of the Dolomites, has reopened with a slew of musical festivities to tempt travellers.
The luxury hotel, located in Cortina d’Ampezzo, kicks off its summer schedule with the DUET Cortina Sunset series, a set of local musical performances held every Saturday through August 28, at 1224 Bar Lounge.
Also resident through August is internationally acclaimed Italian classical pianist Roberto Prosseda, who will play the Bösendorfer Lounge, the hotel’s five-star Dolomia event space.
In collaboration with CortinAteatro, Viennese piano manufacturer Bösendorfer and Yamaha Music Europe, the Decca recording artist will host a fireside chat and musical performance with former World Cup Italian alpine ski racer Kristian Ghedina,
On August 17, Prosseda will celebrate the music of Ennio Morricone, with director Angelo Bozzolini and cellist A. Sanchez Malaga.
Grand Hotel Savoia will also offer guests morning musical excursions, beginning in Piè Tofana (August 19) for adventures in Bolero, and on August 21 at Son Forca, classic rock.

The largest 5-star resort in Ampezzo valley, the Grand Hotel Savoia has long been a fulcrum for cultural and artistic events in the town, and boasts a storied history Sophia Loren, Leo Tolstoy, Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt listed as guests.

Grand Hotel Savoia will also be home to this year’s Savoia Cup 2021, Cortina’s annual summer sporting event. Organized in partnership with the Tennis Country Club Cortina in the heart of the Dolomites, the VIP tennis and padel team challenge will be held August 20 -21.
