Technics has launched a limited edition SL-1200 turntable in collaboration with the Red Bull BC One international breakdancing competition.
The tie-up between the two reflects Technics long-standing commitment to DJ culture, with its SL-1200 an essential instrument on the club music scene. The Red Bull BC One SL-1210MK7R, an iteration of the SL-1210MK7, will be released globally in September.
‘Designed exclusively as a homage to all breakdancers who aspire to rise to higher stages of dancing through the Red Bull BC One competition,’ the handsome livery reflects Red Bull’s signature branding. The limited edition sports a red headshell in the Red Bull image colour, with gold-coloured tone arm, slip mat featuring the BC One design and two-colour vinyl label.

The SL-1210MK7R in Red Bull livery
Beneath all this dressing, there’s a familiar SL-1200/1210MK7 turntable with coreless Direct Drive motor for ultra stable rotation and powerful torque, universal S-shape tonearm made of rigid aluminium, and a two-layer platter, with deadening rubber on the entire back surface to reduce resonance.
The SL-1210MK7R also employs motor control technology developed for Blu-ray players, optimised for scratching and other DJ play styles. The platter rotates in the reverse direction when the speed selector button and stop-start button are pressed simultaneously.
