Vin Diesel superhero movie Bloodshot gets rapid digital release

The Vin Diesel superhero movie Bloodshot is getting an early release on all Video on Demand platforms. The Valiant comic-book property will be available for digital purchase from March 27, priced at £13.99.

The movie under performed when it was released theatrically earlier this month, arriving just as cinemas were emptying due to the Covid-19 virus outbreak.

Tom Rothman, Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group, describes the move as unique. “Sony Pictures is firmly committed to theatrical exhibition and we support windowing,” he says. “This is a unique and exceedingly rare circumstance where theatres have been required to close nationwide for the greater good and Bloodshot is abruptly unavailable in any medium. Audiences will now have the chance to own Bloodshot right away and see it at home, where we are all spending more time.”

He adds: “We are confident that movie theatres will bounce back strongly, and we will be there to support them.”

Vin Diesel stars as Ray Garrison, a soldier killed in action and brought back to life as Bloodshot by the RST corporation. With nanotechnology running through his veins, he’s super strong and able to heal instantly. But in controlling his body, the company has sway over his mind and memories…

Directed by David S. F. Wilson, the film also stars Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, Toby Kebbell and Guy Pearce.
