Flagship KEF LS LUXE wireless speaker is the new designer face of luxury audio

KEF wants to change the way you think about Hi-Fi with LS LUXE, a new flagship wireless loudspeaker that blends high-end acoustic engineering with sculptural industrial design.

Once again, KEF has called on renowned British designer Ross Lovegrove to help it redefine what premium wireless Hi-Fi can be.

His long association with KEF has previously produced icons like the Muon loudspeaker, Muo portable speaker and Mu headphones. For the LS LUXE, Lovegrove has created a rounded, low-diffraction cabinet that serves both form and function. 

The sculpted enclosure reduces unwanted acoustic reflections while advanced bulk moulding compound construction and a flexible decoupling chassis help suppress vibration, allowing the drive units to perform with greater precision.

Inside the new KEF LS LUXE wireless speaker

Inside, KEF has equipped the LS LUXE with its 12th-generation 6.5-inch Uni-Q driver array, the company’s signature coaxial design that places the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the mid-bass driver. The arrangement disperses sound evenly throughout the room, creating a generous listening sweet spot that remains consistent even when listeners move away from the ideal seating position.

The new driver is partnered with KEF’s Metamaterial Absorption Technology, or MAT. Described as an acoustic ‘black hole’, the metamaterial structure absorbs 99 per cent of unwanted sound radiating from the rear of the tweeter. By dramatically reducing internal reflections and distortion, MAT is asid to help deliver greater clarity, lower colouration and a more natural presentation.

The LS LUXE also introduces Velocity Control Technology, or VECO, to the company’s loudspeaker range. Previously seen in the KEF XIO soundbar, the closed-loop system continuously monitors the movement of the Uni-Q driver using a dedicated velocity sensor. Real-time feedback allows the amplifier to correct unwanted movement instantly, improving bass accuracy while reducing distortion. The result promises tighter, more articulate low frequencies without sacrificing weight or authority.

Power comes from a sophisticated bi-amplified architecture. Each speaker combines a 100W Class AB amplifier with a 280W Class D current-drive amplifier, while KEF’s proprietary Music Integrity Engine uses advanced digital signal processing to preserve tonal balance and detail across a wide range of listening levels. 

Whether playing quietly late in the evening or filling a room with orchestral crescendos, the system is designed to remain composed and faithful to the original recording.

KEF LS Luxe connections

Built on KEF’s W2 wireless platform, the LS LUXE supports high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/384kHz PCM alongside DSD playback from local music servers. Native access to streaming services including Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz and Deezer is complemented by Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. Roon Ready certification is expected in 2027.

Connectivity extends beyond music streaming. HDMI eARC allows the LS LUXE to partner with a TV, while analogue and digital audio inputs accommodate everything from CD players to games consoles. Dedicated subwoofer outputs on each speaker provide an upgrade path for those seeking greater low-frequency extension.

Advanced Room EQ analyses the listening environment and automatically adapts performance to suit the room.
