Marantz has refreshed its entry-level Hi-Fi range with the launch of the Model 70 integrated amplifier and CD 70 player, successors to the award-winning PM6007 and CD6007.
The new components combine the brand’s familiar warm, detailed sound with contemporary connectivity, and adopt Marantz’s latest design language – which to be honest, is gorgeous – with full-width chassis styling, available in Black and Silver-Gold finishes.
The Model 70 boasts upgraded Class A/B amplification, a larger toroidal transformer and a simplified internal signal path to improve dynamics and speaker control. The accompanying CD 70 player benefits from a new high-performance DAC, HDAM-SA3 analogue circuitry and a low phase-noise clock to enhance clarity and reduce digital jitter.

Classic Marantz musicality enters a new era
The Model 70 integrated amp is rated at 50W per channel, and employs an upgraded current-feedback Class A/B amplifier design, backed by a substantial toroidal transformer and improved power supply.
The brand says the revised architecture delivers greater dynamic expression, improved loudspeaker control and more confident performance across a wider range of speaker partnerships.
Signal integrity has also been scrutinised. The amplifier uses an electronic volume control which shortens the signal path by eliminating front-panel analogue routing, while upgraded power supply capacitors and a simplified internal layout reduce signal degradation.
Connectivity is equally comprehensive. HDMI ARC allows TV to be treated as a source, while Bluetooth supports both transmit and receive modes, allowing music to be streamed wirelessly from smartphones and tablets or sent directly to compatible wireless headphones for private listening.
Analogue, digital and moving magnet phono inputs ensure the amplifier remains equally comfortable with vinyl collections, CD players and external audio sources.
Partnering the amplifier is the new CD 70 also benefits from a significantly revised digital architecture.
Here, a new high-performance DAC is partnered with Marantz’s proprietary HDAM-SA3 analogue circuitry, alongside carefully selected premium audio components and a low phase-noise master clock designed to minimise jitter.
These upgrades are said to contribute to greater transparency, improved clarity and more precise musical timing. With renewed interest in CD, demand is expected to be high from music enthusiasts with large disc libraries.
