This luxury Barcelona hotel is the place to stay for the Sagrada Família Tower opening

Sagrada Familia construction in Barcelona

Barcelona is preparing to celebrate a major milestone in the long history of the Sagrada Família, with the completion of its central towers, including the Tower of Jesus Christ. The project fulfils a key part of Antoni Gaudí’s original vision and establishes the basilica as the tallest of its kind in the world.

The occasion will be marked on June 10 2026 with an inauguration ceremony led by Pope Leo XIV, followed by a city-wide light show celebrating one of Barcelona’s most significant architectural achievements.

For travellers hoping to witness the occasion, one luxury hotel believes it has one of the best views in town.

Hotel Arts Barcelona offers front-row views of Sagrada Família inauguration

The Hotel Arts Barcelona boasts panoramic views from its unique location on the waterfront, in the heart of the city’s Port Olímpic neighbourhood. Designed by renowned architect Bruce Graham, the hotel features 44 floors of exposed glass and steel, making it a prominent feature of Barcelona’s skyline.

Positioned on the corners of the building, the suites offer panoramic views stretching across the Mediterranean, the evolving Poblenou district and the unmistakable silhouette of the Sagrada Família.

The suites form part of a major refurbishment completed in 2025 by design studio Meyer Davis in collaboration with GCA Architects. Depending on their location within the hotel, guests can enjoy vistas that combine the basilica with either Montjuïc and the coastline or the sea and Barcelona’s eastern neighbourhoods.

Inside, the accommodation follows a contemporary residential approach. Spacious living areas, integrated cocktail bars and large marble bathrooms are designed to encourage guests to linger, while beds are positioned specifically to maximise the views from the moment the curtains open each morning.

For those seeking a more personalised stay, the hotel’s Club-level Skyline Suites include access to The Club, a private lounge overlooking the Mediterranean. Guests benefit from dedicated concierge services, curated culinary offerings and a range of exclusive experiences designed to showcase the city from a more local perspective.

As the finishing touches are placed on one of Europe’s most recognisable landmarks, Hotel Arts Barcelona is positioning itself as a compelling vantage point from which to watch history unfold.

In a city defined by architecture, the completion of the Sagrada Família’s central towers offers a rare opportunity to witness a landmark moment in real time, ideally with a view and perhaps a glass of something chilled close at hand.

Rates for Skyline Suites at Hotel Arts Barcelona start from £855 per night. Book your stay here.

Maradiva Villas, Mauritius review: I checked into the most luxurious private resort in Mauritius – where privacy, giant bats and the finest food on the island await

It’s dusk on the western coast of Mauritius, and I’m standing on my private villa terrace watching something extraordinary unfold above me. Huge fruit bats, with wingspans wider than you’d ever imagine, are gliding silently from the trees as darkness settles across the gardens, cutting shapes against the sky. I haven’t moved for fifteen minutes.…
