Travellers to the Scottish Highlands will soon have a new way to experience one of the region’s best-known single malts. From April 27 2026, The Dalmore will reopen its distillery to guests with a completely reimagined visitor experience designed to offer a deeper insight into the craft, heritage and character behind its whiskies.
Set on the shores of the Cromarty Firth, the distillery’s new brand home aims to move beyond the familiar model of the traditional whisky visitor centre, instead, opting for an immersive environment that better reflects its house style.
Founded in 1839, The Dalmore is known for textured Highland single malts, characterised by notes of chocolate, orange and warming spice. The distillery’s distinctive 12-point silver stag emblem traces its story back to 1263, when Alexander III is said to have granted the symbol to the first chieftain of Clan Mackenzie in recognition of an act of bravery. When descendants of the clan assumed ownership of the distillery in 1878, the stag became the mark that now adorns every bottle.
For whisky wanders planning a Highland itinerary, the reopening marks another compelling reason to make the journey north. And while the dram itself remains the central attraction, the setting – overlooking the calm waters of the firth – maintains a charm all its own.

Rather than a standard guided tour, the newly redesigned visitor experience has been designed to offer a series of carefully staged encounters with the distillery’s history and production. Guests can expect tactile and sensory elements alongside guided tastings that venture beyond the distillery’s core range.
Notably, each experience will be arranged on an individual basis, allowing visitors to work with a dedicated concierge to shape their visit. Tastings, discussions and elements of the tour can be tailored according to personal interests.
In practical terms, this means your visit becomes less of a scheduled tour and more of a curated encounter. It’s a model that reflects the growing appetite among whisky travellers for experiences that go beyond a quick tasting and a visit to the shop, says the brand.
