Disaronno marks 500 years with limited edition bottles – plus a celebratory cocktail to try at home

Disaronno stile limited edition bottle

Disaronno, the Italian liqueur famed for its almond flavour and distinctive square bottle, is celebrating its 500th anniversary with a limited edition collection – and a specially created cocktail.

The brand is releasing five bottles that reflect the themes of Italian culture and craftsmanship across the centuries – Passione, Bellezza, Dolcevita, Stile and Eleganza. Disaronno says the collection is intended both as a collector’s series and as a seasonal gift.

Each bottle contains Disaronno Originale. Since 1525, the liqueur remains unchanged, produced using the same recipe that has helped it achieve international recognition as a versatile spirit for sipping or mixing.

The recipe for Disaronno is credited to a local innkeeper named Giovanni Reina, and has been passed down through generations of his family. Even today, it’s a closely guarded secret.

Dolcevita signature cocktail

To mark the anniversary, the company has also commissioned a cocktail. The Dolcevita has been developed by Patrick Pistolesi and his team at Drink Kong Bar in Rome, recently ranked among the world’s 50 Best Bars.

It offers a modern take on the classic sour, combining whiskey and bitters with tropical and citrus notes that complement the nutty sweetness of Disaronno.

Ingredients

  • 40ml Disaronno Originale
  • 20ml Rabarbaro Zucca
  • 15ml The Busker Triple Cask Triple Smooth
  • 20ml fresh lemon juice
  • 10ml pineapple juice
  • 5ml agave syrup

Method
It couldn’t be easier. Just shake all ingredients with ice, and strain into a chilled glass.
