The Macallan, in partnership with Sotheby’s, is offering one of only two bottles ever produced of its Distil Your World Mexico Single Cask Limited Edition, a whisky tribute to Mexico’s Day of the Dead.
Collectors have the opportunity to own bottle #2 of 2. Bottle #1 will be permanently preserved in the brand’s archive on The Macallan Estate in Speyside, Scotland.
Bidding for the limited expression runs through March 21, with the lot estimated between $30,000 and $80,000. The Macallan whisky is showcased in a vibrant orange presentation box with a marigold-themed interior design inspired by the Day of the Dead. Marigolds, known as cempasúchil in Mexico, are central to Day of the Dead celebrations, symbolising life, remembrance, and spiritual connection.
The multi-component lot will also include an exclusive, bespoke artwork created by illustrator Alfredo Rios, who specialises in depicting nature and Mexican folklore.

Made in collaboration with the renowned Roca brothers, owners of 3-Michelin Star restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, whisky maker Diane Stuart has crafted a unique single malt said to reflect ‘the energy, colour, and spirit of Mexico’s vibrant holiday.’
The one of a kind, single bottle edition has been drawn from a single American oak sherry seasoned butt (Cask No. 1964) filled on February 10, 2005. With a natural colour of deep Marigold, and an ABV of 54.9%, the whisky is said to offer pineapple, grapefruit and apple with intense orange peel on the nose, followed by creamy dulce de leche sauce and cinnamon churros, balanced with rich vanilla and charred pineapple, on the palate.
The finish is said to be long, and sweet with tropical fruits, rich oak and dark chocolate.
