A catwalk-turned-ballet performance is set to be one of the hottest tickets this London Fashion Week. On February 20th, one of London Fashion Week’s most unconventional shows will take over the luxury Middle Eight hotel in Covent Garden, fusing fashion, ballet, and art in an intimate, one-night-only performance.
At the centre of it all is designer Katie Ko, a rising name in the fashion world known for turning fine art into wearable couture. Ko, who studied at the Royal College of Art and made her London Fashion Week debut last season, is gaining recognition for her intricate designs, crafted with hand-drawn illustrations and delicate embroidery to make in ethereal, sculptural pieces. Now, for the upcoming London Fashion Week and in partnership with the 5-star Middle Eight, the designer will push the boundaries of presentation, transforming the runway into an immersive experience where fashion is not just displayed… but performed.

Her latest collection, inspired by the chrysanthemum – a symbol of longevity, elegance, and resilience, we’re reliably informed – explores the harmony between the traditional and the modern. But this show won’t just be about the clothes; it’s about how fabric moves, how space interacts with design, and how performance can reshape the runway.
That’s because it comes with serious performance prestige: Valentino Zucchetti, the first soloist of The Royal Ballet, has choreographed a performance where each garment is not just worn but expressed through movement. Meanwhile, celebrated botanical artist Hamish Powell will extend the collection’s themes into a striking lobby installation in the award-winning luxury London hotel, mirroring the nature-inspired motifs in Ko’s designs.
Beyond the show, Middle Eight will transform the entire hotel into an immersive gallery of Ko’s work. A curated exhibition of her original artworks and limited-edition fashion pieces will allow guests to take home a piece of her creative world.
You’ll find us, meanwhile, at the hotel’s Sycamore Vino Cucina, where a bespoke menu of cocktails and teas – infused with flavours inspired by Ko’s Hong Kong heritage – will add another sensory layer to the experience. We can’t think of a better excuse to visit the hotel’s glamorous bar… or check-in for one seriously stylish staycation.
