Bladnoch Distillery has unveiled its 2024 Peated Collection of Lowland single malt whiskies, comprising four expressions: the Alinta Reserve and three limited-edition peated single cask whiskies, each showcasing unique flavour profiles influenced by their maturation in carefully selected casks.
Made with peated barley, Bladnoch’s Peated Collection pays homage to a unique era in its history when, under previous owners, the distillery dedicated an entire year to crafting peated single malt. Master Distiller Dr. Nick Savage, who joined the team in 2019, discovered this peated treasure trove maturing in its bluestone warehouses.
This launch follows the distillery’s inaugural Peated Collection in 2023. Interestingly, the distillery doesn’t use peat from Islay. Instead it sources peat from Aberdeenshire, which imparts classic smoky campfire flavours – imagine a smoky creme brulee.

Bladnoch Alinta Reserve (2024 Batch Release)
Alinta, meaning fire and flame in Indigenous Australian languages, embodies the smoky warmth of this limited-release whisky. This year’s batch is matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, creating a rich and evocative dram.
Bottled at 46.7% ABV, it offers smoked apricot jam with woodland trees on the nose, with cinnamon and nutmeg on the palate. Limited to 2,000 bottles, Alinta Reserve represents the distillery’s taste-first approach, blending smoky complexity with Lowland elegance.
Peated Single Cask 2024/01
Selected from a 2009 Tokaji barrel, this expression combines sweet and smoky notes with a velvety texture. It’s bottled at 51.7% ABV and boasts Bladnoch’s signature grassy notes on the nose, with smoky chocolate orange on the palate. Only 224 bottles are available, making this an exclusive collector’s item.
Peated Single Cask 2024/02
Matured in a 2009 bourbon barrel, this whisky promises a rich interplay of fruity and smoky flavors. On the nose, expect smoky barbecue with apple and lemon, infused with banana cake on the palate. This release is limited to just 192 bottles with an ABV of 55%.
Peated Single Cask 2024/03
A rum barrel-matured single malt, the third single cask expression in the collection combines tropical sweetness with bold smoke. Aromas of tropical fruits and smoky honey, meet smoky apple pie with Refreshers sweets on the palate. Only 158 bottles of this expression are available, bottled at 54.2% ABV.
“Bladnoch has a rich history spanning over two centuries,” said Dr. Nick Savage. “The Peated Collection shines a light on the breadth and quality of the distillery’s maturing stocks. This release celebrates the diversity of flavours we can achieve by embracing our heritage while pushing boundaries.”
All expressions in the Peated Collection are non-chill filtered and natural in colour.
The Bladnoch Alinta Reserve retails for £120, while each Peated Single Cask whisky is priced at £200. Whisky enthusiasts can purchase the collection directly from the distillery or select premium retailers.
