Ruark Audio revives traditional Hi-Fi with R610 Music Console and bookshelf speakers

Ruark Audio, adept at blending classic design with cutting-edge audio, has unveiled the R610 Music Console and Sabre-R bookshelf speakers, a music system that harks back to the glory days of living room Hi-Fi.

Ruark launched its first Sabre loudspeakers back in 1985. This new iteration have been designed to accompany the brand’s first-ever music console, a combination intended to evoke the spirit of the golden age of stereo systems, albeit with a distinctly contemporary streaming twist.

The hand-crafted enclosures sport custom drivers, and boast a finish that wouldn’t look out of place on fancy furniture.

The R610 all-in-one features tactile soft-touch buttons and the brand’s familiar control dial.  Usability is further enhanced by a crisp colour fascia display, able to showcase album artwork, as well as provide clear feedback on every command.

Under the hood, there’s a switch-mode power supply ready to deliver 75W per channel.

As you might expect, the R610 supports high-quality audio streaming via a variety of platforms, including Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Apple AirPlay, and Google Cast. The system also caters to vinyl enthusiasts with a built-in phono preamp, allowing easy connection to turntables.

For CD collectors, Ruark will soon launch a compatible CD drive, which connects via the USB socket at the rear of the R610; this disc spinner will also work with its R410 and R810 music systems.

In a nod to cinematic audio, the R610 also has HDMI with ARC/eARC, allowing the system to function as an upgrade for TV audio.

Ruark has clearly designed the R610 Music Console and Sabre-R bookshelf speakers to work together as a complete, cohesive system. However, for those who already have compatible audio setups, both the console and speakers can be purchased individually, offering flexibility for different listening preferences and room configurations.

Whether bought together or separately, the R610 and Sabre-R represent Ruark’s dedication to providing a modern take on the classic stereo system, one that merges sonic excellence with elegant aesthetics.

The R610 Music Console retails for £1,200, while the Sabre-R bookshelf speakers sell for £600 (per pair).
