The House of Suntory unveils Limited Edition Hibiki Japanese Harmony whisky to celebrate Harrods 175th anniversary

Hibiki Suntory Whisky Harrods exclusive

The House of Suntory has announced a collaboration with Harrods, which is celebrating its 175th anniversary, creating a limited edition Bottle of Hibiki Japanese Harmony whisky.

Available exclusively at Harrods from August 15, this special release comprises 175 individually numbered bottles, each priced at £255.

A tribute to Harrods’ legacy, the bottle is adorned with motifs that reflect the department store’s storied past. The packaging showcases a peacock, which has graced Harrods’ food halls since the early 1900s, and a tea leaf, paying homage to Harrods’ origins as a tea merchant on Brompton Road in 1849.

Harrods’ motto, Omnia Omnibus Ubique (All Things for All People Everywhere), is also featured alongside its famous terracotta façade.

Nobuyuki Akiyama, Managing Director of The House of Suntory, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Both our founders were pioneers who recognized the intrinsic value of treasures, how they ignite inspiration, evoke delight, and provoke awe. Shinjiro Torii introduced whisky to Japan, igniting a cultural awakening, and shared his creation with the world. Meanwhile, Charles Henry Harrod brought the world to his London emporium, crafting a space where the extraordinary and the unexpected could be experienced, savoured, and cherished.”

Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a meticulous blend of grain whiskies from Suntory’s Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries. Renowned for its balance, the whisky is celebrated as a beacon of Japanese craftsmanship.

On the nose, you can expect notes of lychee, rosemary, and sandalwood, leading to a palate laced with honey-like sweetness, candied orange peel, and white chocolate. The finish hints of revered Mizunara oak.

Hibiki Japanese Harmony Whisky x Harrods: A tribute to 175 years

The collab is a tribute to Harrods’ legacy as a sanctuary for treasures from across the globe. André Lewis, Head of Buying for Food, Wine & Spirits at Harrods, highlighted the significance of the partnership: “This exclusive release beautifully marries the refined artistry of Suntory whisky with the rich heritage of Harrods. The Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a symbol of meticulous craftsmanship and exquisite taste, making it a perfect tribute to our legacy. We are excited to offer this unique bottle to our customers, reflecting our shared commitment to excellence and the celebration of timeless elegance.”

Since its founding in 1923, The House of Suntory has been a pioneer of Japanese whisky, celebrated for its mastery in the art of blending. The legacy began with Shinjiro Torii, who built Japan’s first malt whisky distillery in Yamazaki, and continued with his son, Keizo Saji, who established further distilleries, including Hakushu.
