Premium audio company Zeitgeist Germany has launched earphones crafted from Islay malt whisky barrels. These stylish in-ear monitors feature wood cut from an American Oak cask. Duly seasoned, the timber is simply oiled before the earphone components are added.
The Islay Malt ‘buds will soon be joined by a Flamed Islay Malt model, and another crafted from a Tennessee bourbon barrel. A pair for every taste then?
A wired design, the earphones are intended for use with Digital Audio Players, or smartphones with suitable adaptors. For those that want to go wireless, a Bluetooth adapter is available as an optional accessory from the brand store.
Contoured for comfort, the earphones come in Regular and Small sizes.

Joining the Whisky collection, is the Artisan range. A third, the Trees collection, will follow this summer.
The Artisan collection utilises Karelian birch, noted for its distinctive curling pattern. Fabergé used the wood to craft one of his eggs for Tsar Nicolas II. The Karelian Birch was the penultimate Fabergé Egg produced, and the only design primarily made from an organic material.
The Collection is available in five different colour variations: vivid amber, blue, green, black and purple hues.
All Zeitgeist earphones have been handcrafted in the brand’s workshop near Heidelberg. No two earphones are ever identical, with different textures, grains and colour variations ensuring every earphone is unique.
