Timex enters Octagon as Official UFC watch partner, shows 30th anniversary limited edition

The Octagon in the T Mobile arena Las Vegas for UFC 290

Timex has entered the Octagon as the first ever official Timekeeper and Watch Partner of UFC, just in time for the sellout London UFC Fight Night, on July 22.

Timex’s renewed global sponsorship and licensing partnership with the UFC follows the release of its first UFC branded watches in 2022.  UFC Superstars Sean O’Malley and Dustin Poirier are Brand Ambassadors.

The partnership puts a fresh spin on the famous Timex slogan: ‘It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.” The phrase was first used as part of the brand’s stateside TV campaigns in the 1960s.

“Being able to bring accurate, durable and innovative timekeeping to fighters and fans alike and offering hard-hitting features that embody the toughness and tenacity of two powerhouse brands is a match worthy in its own right,” says Shari Fabiani, Sr. Vice President Brand & Creative at Timex Group.

New this year is a 30th anniversary special Timex UFC watch, which broke cover at UFC 290 this weekend in Las Vegas. Features include over-sized ‘30’ anniversary branding, and a dramatic green metallic body. The UFC 30th anniversary Timex watch was limited to 30 pieces for sale at the event.

Also new, and offering a different take on its UFC licence, is a Timex UFC Championship Bracelet ID watch.

A stainless-steel case houses the analogue three-hand movement, which is concealed under a silver-tone cover, sporting a UFC crystal logo. The jewellery-inspired chain bracelet can be sized to most wrists thanks to the removable links, and sells for £175.

More widely available, the Timex FC sport-centric timepieces will appeal to fans of G-Shock and sports watches, as well as followers of mixed martial arts. The line has been designed by Giorgio Galli Design Lab in Milan, Italy.

The range comprises multifunctional digital and analogue-digital timepieces, all of which feature a rugged case design, with moulded resin straps and ISO shock-resistant construction.

Small details impress, such as Octagon-shaped bezels and crowns.

The Timex UFC Colossus boasts a rugged 45mm octagonal case design and custom analogue digital functionality, with world time (48 cities), 5 alarms, calendar, and chronograph. The £165 timepiece also has a 100m water resistance rating.

Topping out the brand’s current Street collection is the Timex UFC Pro, with architectural design, and line-embossed UFC logo on the gold-tone dial and enamel-inlay crown. This £140 model has a 44mm gold-tone stainless steel case.
