Brewdog has launched Black Heart, a classic stout that could well give its better known rival a run for its money.
The black stuff is big news right now – Guinness now claims to be Britain’s best-selling pint. Hot on the heels of Iron Maiden’s Special Edition Trooper Imperial Stout, this new Brewdog launch hopes to popularise the beverage beyond its stereotypical St Patrick’s Day audience. Our verdict? Brewdog Black Heart is just more flavoursome than Guinness
This quaffable 4.1% ABV stout is brewed with Simcoe hops, roasted barley and chocolate malt to the fore. It’s smooth and malty, with notes of coffee and chocolate on the palate, and it exits with a coy caramel kiss. Our verdict? Brewdog Black Heart is just more flavoursome than Guinness.
Black Heart is available on tap in Brew Dog bars, and canned through Tesco and online. An in-can nitro widget provides a draft experience (invert and pour straight down for the best results).
The Scottish craft beer populist is supporting the launch with a bunch of merch, including branded glasses, t-shirts and tote bags.

Vegan friendly and gluten-free, this 4.4% pale ale is said to embody the psychedelic spirit of Norris’ memoir. Sounds…
Greene King has launched two new beers into the premium craft sector, and is backing its brews with a massive advertising campaign. So what do they taste like? Time to drink on the job. The new brews are significant in that they call on Greene King’s 200-year heritage, albeit utilising a modern brewing twist. Flint…
