The cast of The Full Monty are reuniting for a TV spin-off on Disney+. The streamer has confirmed that the limited run series will take place 25 years after events in the original BAFTA-winning British hit comedy.
A co-commission by Disney+ and FX, the new drama will follow the original band of brothers, as they combat Sheffield’s ‘crumbling healthcare, education and employment sectors. The series will explore the brighter, sillier and more humane way forward where communal effort can still triumph over adversity.’
The UK Original will premiere on Disney+ globally, Star+ in Latin America and Hulu Stateside.
Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting) reprises his role as Gaz and Mark Addy (Game of Thrones) returns as Dave, with Lesley Sharp (Before We Die) as Jean, Hugo Speer (Britannia) as Guy, Paul Barber (The Dumping Ground) as Horse, Steve Huison (The Royle Family) as Lomper, Wim Snape (The Beaker Girls) as Nathan and Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton) as Gerald.

The comedy drama series, which will comprise eight sixty minute episodes, also reunites the original film’s Academy Award-winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) and producer Uberto Pasolini. Filming has begun in Sheffield and Manchester.

The series is created, written and executive produced by Simon Beaufoy, executive produced by Uberto Pasolini, directed by Andrew Chaplin (Alma’s Not Normal) and Catherine Morshead (No Offence), co-written by Alice Nutter with Simon Lewis as Series Producer.
Disney+ has committed to creating 60 local productions by 2024, as part of the company’s commitment to source, develop and produce original productions in Europe.
