Land Rover has revealed its next-generation Range Rover, the Range Rover SV, at the Royal Opera House in London.
Celebratory guests at the vehicle reveal included No Time to Die director Cary Fukunaga and Downton Abbey star Laura Carmichael. The unveiling was accompanied by a performance from pianist Tokio Myers
Due on sale in 2022, the Range Rover SV is a more stylised version of the original luxury SUV design, and for the first time provides space for up to six adults.
This model is also the first to sport the manufacturers new SV roundel, signifying Special Vehicle Operations. It’ll be used to identify all new Land Rover vehicles launched by Special Vehicle Operations in the future.
Design notes include a characteristically short front overhang, upright windscreen and distinctive boat tail rear. Glazing is flush, with seamless laser-welded roof joints. Rear lights remain hidden until lit.

Personalisation options are many, and include lustrous plated metals, smooth ceramics, intricate mosaic marquetry, as well as a choice of high-grade leathers or sustainable non-leather Ultrafabrics. Additional design themes, including SV Serenity and SV Intrepid, introduce two-tone front-to-rear contrasting interior colourways, while the four-seat SV Signature Suite features functional enhancements including an electrically deployable Club Table and refrigerator.
The cabin features third-generation Active Noise Cancellation technology. Much like the ANC used in noise cancelling headphones, this is achieved by using microphones on the outside of the vehicle and headrest speakers on the inside, to create personal quiet zones for cabin occupants.
There’s also voice control with Amazon Alexa built-in. Voice commands can be used for music playback, navigation or phone calling.

The SV is the first model to use Land Rover’s new flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture. MLA-Flex can accommodate internal combustion, plug-in hybrid and 100 per cent electric powertrains. It’s hailed as the next step in Land Rover’s simplified architecture strategy.
The SV is available with a choice of mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains and four, five or seven-seat interiors across Standard and Long Wheelbase body designs. A pure-electric Range Rover, the first all-electric Land Rover, will join the line-up in 2024, the brand has confirmed.
The pure-electric New Range Rover will be the first in a series of all-electric Land Rovers. Every nameplate will be available with pure-electric propulsion by the end of the decade, says the company.
The extended Range plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powertrains will deliver an expected real-world pure-electric driving range of up to 50 miles.
This fifth-generation Range Rover has been designed, developed and engineered in the UK, and will be produced exclusively at Land Rover’s Solihull Manufacturing Facility.
