There’s a different type of chiller coming to Apple TV+ this month. Described as a ‘genre-bending thriller’ Calls is a nine episode mash-up of immersive audio and experimental imagery that looks certain to engage.
The show is based on the CANAL+ French series of the same name created by Timothée Hochet. It inventively uses audio and minimal abstract visuals to tell unsettling, short-form stories. Directed by Fede Álvarez (Don’t Breathe), each episode follows a dramatic mystery that unfolds through a series of seemingly average, unconnected phone calls that quickly become surreal as the characters face growingly unsettling experiences.
