We could drink this boozy cream liqueur from Finland till the cows come home

Finland’s award-winning Kyrö Distillery Company has launched a dairy cream liqueur that’s the perfect seasonal indulgence. A marriage of local milk and cream with wholegrain rye spirit and single malt rye whisky, once supped, this beverage is impossible to resist.

The Kyrö Distillery is best known for its (100 per cent Finnish) rye gin and whisky offerings, but making a cream liqueur was perhaps inevitable for the company, given it operates from an old dairy in the village of Isokyrö.

All the milk used in the production is sourced from local farms, close to the distillery. Only natural colours and flavours are used, and it’s both lactose- and gluten-free.

This liqueur is a creamer than some well known rivals

The Kyrö Dairy Cream Liqueur lacks preservatives, which means its shelf life is shorter than some rival dairy liqueurs on the market, six months from bottling and four weeks in the fridge after opening, but to be honest, that’s not going to be a problem. Once opened, it’ll soon be gone.

Eager to sample the cream liqueur, we poured it straight from the bottle over ice, although it can also be used to create a lush coffee. Velvety smooth, and gloriously opulent, this liqueur is a creamer than some well known rivals, with a milk chocolate mouthfeel, You won’t want to overindulge, although it’s fabulously more-ish.

The official tasting notes suggest liquorice, chocolate, toffee, fresh dairy milk, with a hint of salt.  ABV is 16 per cent.

This dairy cream drink enjoys a fresh presentation

The Kyrö Distillery has won several awards for its design and packaging, and this liqueur is fittingly striking. Reflecting its origins, the beverage has a white milk bottle design enlivened with signature typography. It’s a lovely presentation.

The 50 cl bottle retails for £19.95. Order yours here.
