As we start to tentatively explore getaways again, one hurdle we haven’t quite found a way to conquer yet has been spa breaks. But one high-end hotel in Switzerland has found the perfect solution to ease anxiety around the pandemic: the Grand Hotel Kronenhof has created outdoor spa platforms for summer 2020, ideal for socially distanced yoga, Pilates and meditation classes.
Not only are the outdoor platforms safely distant from other guests, but the views are out-of-this-world unrivalled. This is a yoga offering like we’ve never seen before.

Overlooking the calming panorama of the Engadine Valley in the Swiss Alps, the four wooden platforms have been assembled on slightly different levels on the slope that leads from the Grand Hotel Kronenhof’s gorgeous gardens down to the Flaz river, to add another level of seclusion for yogis. The glistening Val Roseg glacier is clearly visible to the south, while the beautiful Staz forest lies directly in front, the other side of the Flaz river.
This means classes, which are provided on a complimentary basis by the hotel as part of its daily wellness programme (which also includes aqua aerobics, TRX Workout and more), are accompanied by the gentle rumblings of the river below and the sweet fragrance of wildflowers, creating an environment for a relaxing wellness session about as idyllic as they come.

The luxury escape, just six miles away from the glitz of St. Moritz, offers more in the way of wellness too, including traditional activities like hiking, stand-up paddling and mountain biking, as well as whey baths, forest bathing and even goat yoga – making it an ideal high-end hideaway for those who are eager to enjoy the wide open space of the great outdoors, in style. Let’s just say we’re on board.
Grand Hotel Kronenhof summer rates start from approx. £390 for two people sharing a double room on a half-board basis, which includes unlimited access to the Kronenhof Spa, Kulm Golf and Kulm tennis courts. Book online at kronenhof.com.
