News on the wire about upcoming hotel and guest house openings in the Savoie Mont Blanc region of France has the TLR newsdesk all a flutter.
Covering two thirds of the French Alps, the region makes for an idyllic summer short haul break, and is definitely worth a visit when we all get out of lockdown.
Best known for its mountains and ski resorts, Savoie Mont Blanc also boasts a quartet of spectacular lakes (Annecy, Bourget, Aiguebelette and Geneva French side) which will provide a memorable Insta backdrop for a mid-week escape. So which of these will you frequent first?
Overlooking Lake Bourget, l’Incomparable (pictured top) is a once historic building now reinvented as a luxury hotel. It boasts 11 rooms and four suites, a wellness area with a pool, a Jacuzzi, a steam room and treatment rooms. The hotel also has an outdoor pool and tennis courts.
Located midway between Lake Bourget and Lake Annecy, in Grésy-sur-Aix, the 19th century Chateau Brachet sells itself as an eco-friendly destination. Each of the hotel’s 15 bedrooms features a famous person who has stayed in the Chateau, including Queen Victoria and the King of Greece. Surrounded by a park of five hectares, the hotel boasts an outdoor pool, a small golf area, spa and restaurant.
Le Mouton Bleu
Located in the village of Talloires-Montmin, on the shore of Lake Annecy, Le Mouton Bleu is a new four-star hotel promising a chic, relaxed atmosphere. It has 15 lake-view bedrooms, as well as a spa, a pool and bar.
Plan B is a new stay in Chamonix-Mont Blanc, located close to the Aiguille du Midi cable car. Boasting 35 bedrooms, 7 suites, 7 apartments and a dorm for up to 10 people. Plan B promises to be fun and affordable, with a large bar, a brasserie, shop, bowling lanes and a children’s play area.
Le Chateau de Saint-Genix
Located near Lake Aiguebelette, the grand Chateau de Saint-Genix dates from 1897. Its four bedrooms in this grand guest house have been renovated in a baroque chic style, mixing old and modern.
Les O d’Annecy
Now under new ownership, this beguiling guest house house in Saint-Jorioz, above Lake Annecy, boasts five spacious bedrooms (four double and a family suite), all with views of the lake, as well as a spa with a Jacuzzi, a sauna and an indoor swimming pool.
Last but definitely not lest, Les Pipistrelles is an old farm that has been transformed into a charming guest house in the village of St Béron, near Lake Aiguebelette. Looks like the perfect escape to us…
