Salford Distillery is marking 100 years of Salford’s city status with a limited-edition aged rum inspired by the Caribbean trade that helped shape the city’s industrial history.
Blended and bottled at Salford Distillery’s railway-arch home on Viaduct Street, the Salford Centenary Edition Rum brings together a blend of aged Caribbean rums, for a flavour profile of banana, pineapple, and caramel.
Each of the 3,500 bottles is hand-numbered and housed in a heavyweight ceramic vessel in Salford pink. Its special map design was created by artist Dave Draws.

Salford Distillery Centenary Edition rum tasting notes
Bottled at 40% ABV, the Centenary Edition is rich and approachable. Tasting notes speak of ripe banana and pineapple, supported by warming spice and caramel, with a touch of oak on the finish.
There’s also a charitable element to the launch. £2 from every bottle sold goes to the Mayor’s Ceremonial Fund, with the money shared between Salford City FC Foundation and The Survivors Project.
An homage to history
For Salford Distillery co-founder Tommy Gaughan, the release reflects the history and character of the place in which the business operates.
“Salford has always had something about it. There’s grit here, but there’s also an incredible spirit, and I mean that in every sense of the word,” he said.
Gaughan described the Centenary Edition as a tribute to the people and industries that shaped the city, and to the docks that connected it with the wider world.
“The docks connected Salford to the wider world, bringing in rum, spices and goods from the Caribbean and creating livelihoods for generations of local people. When we started Salford Distillery, we wanted to celebrate that history and heritage, and bring a little bit of it back home. The Centenary Edition is our love letter to Salford, to the people who built it, the industries that shaped it and the incredible spirit that still runs through the city today.”
The Salford Centenary Edition Rum bottling is priced at £50. The release will be released in batches, with the first 500 bottles available through Salford Distillery.
