Old Pulteney is marking its 200th anniversary with the release of two suitably rare single malts: Old Pulteney 50 Years Old and Old Pulteney 30 Years Old. Crafted at the distillery’s coastal home in Wick, both whiskies reflect the maritime character that has defined the brand since 1826.
Limited to just 200 bottles globally, the 50 Year Old becomes the oldest whisky ever released by the distillery. The 30 Year Old expression is available in 1,000 bottles. Both celebrate what Old Pulteney calls ‘The Maritime Malt’, designed to showcase the distillery’s signature balance of salinity, fruit and spice.
“These single malts mark a defining moment in Old Pulteney’s journey, honouring our legacy while signalling a new era as we look ahead to the next 200 years,” says Master of Whisky Creation Sarah Burgess. “Not just a celebration of heritage, they are a promise that we will continue to honour time, provenance and craftsmanship in every drop.”

The headline release is undoubtedly Old Pulteney 50 Years Old. Drawn from four hogshead casks matured for half a century, it’s been predominantly aged in American oak, with a subtle seasoning from European oak adding additional richness and spice. The whisky was selected and overseen by Burgess, with each cask yielding only a tiny amount of spirit after decades of maturation.
Tasting notes for the 50 Year Old, bottled at 40.8% ABV, highlight rich layers of dried fruit, vanilla, toasted bread and maritime salinity, while the 30 Year Old, at 50.4% ABV, offers sugared almonds, orchard fruits, salted caramel and warming spice.
The two celebratory expressions arrive in elaborate crystal decanters and bespoke presentation cases inspired by driftwood and the surrounding Caithness coastline.
Old Pulteney 50 Year Old sells for £20,000, while Old Pulteney 30 Year Old is priced at £1,750. Both will be available through selected outlets from June 2026.
