Humax and Harmony Automotive bring bundled home EV charging to BYD buyers

Humax EV Charging at BYD

BYD EV buyers can now roll a premium domestic charging solution directly into their vehicle purchase, thanks to a partnership between Humax and Harmony Automotive.

The agreement means any BYD vehicle ordered through Harmony Automotive’s six UK showrooms can now add the Humax MX7 home EV charger, together with standard installation, from £999. Crucially, the cost can be incorporated into a Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) finance package or other payment plans, allowing customers to spread the cost alongside monthly vehicle repayments.

The idea is to create a cleaner, more seamless handover: car, charger and installation all arranged before the keys are even in hand.

The collaboration should remove one of the more practical friction points in electric vehicle ownership: arranging reliable home charging after purchase.

By bringing the charger into the showroom buying process, Harmony Automotive can now offer BYD customers, including private owners and fleet operators, a fully integrated package that covers both the car and the charging infrastructure needed to support it.

For many, the convenience of waking up to a fully charged vehicle is what makes electric motoring feel genuinely effortless.

Humax Charging has been positioning itself at the forefront of premium domestic EV chargers, and this partnership reinforces that ambition. Rather than treating the charger as an aftermarket extra, the MX7 becomes part of the wider vehicle ecosystem from day one.

Taking the hassle out of EV charging at home

The charger at the centre of the deal, the Humax MX7, is positioned as a premium home unit with a strong emphasis on future readiness and ease of use.

A 2025 London Design Awards Gold Winner, it combines installer-friendly hardware with features aimed squarely at long-term EV ownership.

For households, one of the more useful elements is solar compatibility, allowing drivers with rooftop PV systems to prioritise home-generated electricity for cleaner and potentially lower-cost charging.

The unit is also ISO 15118-ready, which means it’s prepared for future Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capability as UK infrastructure evolves. That could eventually allow compatible EVs to return stored energy back to the grid or support household loads.

Other features include energy theft protection through smart vehicle recognition, smartphone scheduling and live monitoring via the Humax Smart App, and eligibility for the OZEV grant scheme, helping reduce upfront costs where grant conditions apply.

Martyn Webb, chief business controller at Harmony Automotive, says the goal is to provide customers with an “exceptional, stress-free buying experience”.

That’s likely to resonate particularly strongly with first-time EV buyers, who often have as many questions about charging logistics as they do about range, performance or running costs.
